PERSONAS TRANS Y NO BINARIAS

My name is Alonso Murillo; even though I'm also called by other female and masculine names like Isabella, Máxima & Séptimo. I live mainly in Mexico City and I am currently working as a fashion photographer, creative director and fashion stylist, among others.

"México No Binario" is a personal project that started as a way to find myself , to know who I am and take a decision if I really wanted to be a trans woman or not. In the end I decided no to follow the rules we already know about gender and identity such as we know them in the Mexican society. The truth about a non binary person, at least in my experience is that you never feel like you actually belong in the men's world neither the woman's as non of those two social circles perceive you as an equal and I regularly have the feeling that I do not belong anywhere. In time I found out that it was not only me with these feelings and emotions, so this project has the intention of creating a community, to give us non binary people a  face, to create a visual archive of people who dare to be different to the social expectations and perhaps to inspire people out there to be whoever they want to be. 

This is a trip around all the states that conform Mexico and some other countries and places I travel to. My intention is to find people that do not identify by the straight and strict rules of gender so you can be trans, queer, non binary, gender fluid, etc., so that we can have a visual archive of who we are, how and where we live, what we do for living, what are our hobbies and fears, how is our daily life and to tell our stories through images. My aim is to create a photobook that will be published once the journey in all Mexico is complete.

In march 2022 the project started being artistic non-profit and currently it is not not supported by any brand or institution so the project keeps alive with voluntary donations and through paid portraits around the world. If you saw this on instagram I'm hoping you could be part of this and help me take a picture of you and fund the project if you think these initiatives are important. The people invited to be photographed can be part of the funding or not, as you can also be part of the funding if you don't want to be photographed.

As this is a project about gender you can be part of it as:

- A trans/queer/non binary/gender fluid and let me take a picture of you for my visual archive, you can donate only if you want.

- An LGBTIQ member of the community that loves the idea and wants to fund the project, I can offer some portrait pictures of yourself in return for the money. This pictures can be individual, a couple or family portraits.

- Just a person that wants to help the project somehow.

The pictures can be taken in a public space, your work or home.
